Today, we’re absolutely delighted to introduce one of the leading wine education organizations: WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust). If you’re looking to take your wine education to a professional level, WSET is a great choice.

For our partnership, WSET is giving away one free tuition in the United States!

Know someone who will benefit from this program? Definitely let them know! This a massive opportunity for the right person.

The Prize

One lucky entrant will win free tuition to the approved WSET Level 2 Award in Wine & Spirits Course — an $850 value.

(Sorry, no cash or applied tuition to other WSET/wine education programs!)

Tell Me A Little Bit More About The WSET Level 2 Award.

The Level 2 Award is WSET’s most popular program and is designed for both professionals and enthusiasts alike. It’s a bit more challenging than an entry-level course, geared towards beginners ready to make a jump or intermediates looking to solidify their knowledge. If your knowledge of wine is self-taught, this is a great way to bring together what you know and plug any gaps you made along the way.

Here are the subjects you’ll study and come to know well:

  • How wine is made
  • What factors influence the creation of wine
  • Key red and white grape varieties and their characteristics
  • The important wine-grape-growing regions of the world
  • Food and wine pairing principles
  • Principal categories of spirits and liquors, and how they are made
  • How to describe wine using proper terms

For more information, please visit the program details page here.

How Long Does it Take to Complete?

Ooh, now that really depends on the approved provider. One can expect minimum 16 hours of classroom or online delivery time. Some courses do evening-only courses. Some do full-day blackouts. Check beforehand!

After that, you will take a 50-question multiple-choice test. Upon passing, you’ll receive your WSET Level 2 Award in Wine & Spirits and a nifty little pin.

It’ll also leave you in a prime position to take on the more challenging WSET Level 3 Award, a seven-day series of courses that dives deeper into tasting technique and learning about production and distribution of wine and spirits.

What Can I Do With a WSET Level 2 Award?

Here are some jobs that are geared to those who go down the WSET education track:

  • Wine educator
  • Wine marketer
  • Wine brand representative
  • Wine spokesperson
  • Wine sales
  • Wine distribution or importation
  • General wine business and entrepreneurship
  • Wine director at a restaurant, cruise ship, or hotel chain

Please Note: Whilst designed to provide professional knowledge and skills, WSET qualifications do not themselves guarantee employment or career progression.

Do I Need to Have Completed WSET Level 1?

Actually, no! The beauty of WSET courses is that up until Level 4, no courses are technically a prerequisite. If you’re already quite knowledgeable, hey, you get to jump the line. Pretty sweet, right?

However, it might be beneficial to gauge where you’re at before diving into deeper waters. Decanter magazine has an excellent little litmus test to see if the Level 2 is within your reach.

What If I’ve Already Completed This Award/Have Other Advanced Certifications?

Then you, my good sir or madam, should be a good wine citizen and share, share, share with people looking to get where you are!

What’s The Deadline To Enter? When Will Winners Be Announced?
