What is Wine Folly?
Our mission is to help people grow through learning. Wine Folly makes content, sites, products, and tools dedicated to wine knowledge and appreciation.
The goal is for more people to view wine, not just as an adult beverage, but as a way to explore the world and themselves.
Timeline
- Wine Folly first launched in 2011 in Seattle, Washington. It was created by Justin Hammack, Madeline Puckette, and Chad Wasser.
- In 2015, we launched our first book, Wine Folly: The Essential Guide to Wine – a New York Times bestseller!
- In 2018, we launched our second book, Wine Folly: Magnum Edition, The Master Guide – a James Beard award winner!
- In 2019, we merged with David Gluzman and team to build a better wine information resource with a proper back end.
- In 2021 we published our first Region Guides which are educator-level learning tools.
- In 2021 launched our first wine courses.
- In 2024 we started offering a monthly wine education club.
- In 2024 we launched our member platform.
Keeping Wine Folly on and running smoothly requires not just time but money. Writers, editors, graphic designers, video equipment, illustration supplies, software subscriptions, and web hosting are some of the few things that we have to account for in everything we do.
