Question: Australia is known for being the driest, hottest continent on earth, so how does it produce such a range of styles of wine from light and crisp to full bodied and juicy?
- Australia can really only produce full bodied wines.
- Australia imports grapes from cooler countries to blend with its grapes to make fresher styles.
- The diversity of climate and terrain allows winemakers to grow a multitude of grape varieties, each of which can produce different styles of wine.
- As there are no cooling influences in Australia, winemakers can only pick grapes early to make lighter styles.

The Home of Malbec
Though Malbec is originally from France, Mendoza, the heartland of wine production in Argentina, is the flag-bearer for this grape. Nestled along the eastern edge of the Andes, the dramatic skyline to the west not only looks amazing but impacts what we taste in the wine glass.
Wine Quiz Answer
Answer – #3
The cold Southern Ocean and varying levels of altitude along with a number of different grape varieties ensure that light and refreshing styles can be made along side riper full bodied styles of wine.
